"This canvas is a tribute to the movie that has the same title, directed by Jean Jacques Annaud (released in 1981). I had started it just before the bushfires in Australia, as fire was very important in the survival of humanity in Prehistoric times. The movie is one of the reasons today I am fascinated with archeology in general. By the time I finished the painting and when the fire hit international news, and the smoked reached as far as Chile. I was totally bummed out as I immediately understood now, as a species, we are actually going backwards, yet many are still in denial of the hard truth." - The Artist -
