"Milne started taking photos of school friends Gina Riley and Rowland S Howard when he was just 16. With camera in hand he photographed upcoming musicians Boys Next Door and friend Nick Cave.

Capturing hidden moments of daily life, he documented parties, music gigs, university, and road trips with candour and great spontaneity. His warm, intimate and often surprising images already display the great compositional skills, originality and humour for which he is know. These images offer an unprecedented look into mid 1970s to mid 1980s Melbourne and the people who would go on to play pivotal roles in Melbourne's cultural scene."
