Warren O'Brien is an abstract painter whose artwork reflects the rhythm and repetition of his process. His layering of vibrant colours affords the work depth, while the free brushwork and dripped paint evoke the spontaneous style of abstract expressionism. His use of the repeated arc motif—similar to the architectural form of an arched window—is magnetic in effect, drawing attention to the complex layers he builds into his work. This is one of two exceptional paintings that appear in this auction and should be considered as a pair or individual artwork. O'Brien has worked at Arts Project since 2005. He has shown in numerous group exhibitions including Melbourne Art Fair. His work is represented in private collections throughout Australia.
