Jacob Cartelli's practice encompasses both paint and pencil on paper and canvas. In the former we see the style of gestural abstraction, while by comparison Cartelli's pencil drawings are concentrated and refined, the forms often vaguely figurative. Not titled is a wonderful example, and we can see in this work, as with his paintings, the graceful, sweeping movement of the markings. Cartelli has worked in the studio at Arts Project Australia since 2015.
