Emily Dober is an emerging painter and illustrator whose works focus on the feminine form as portrayed in magazines and advertisements. Her work for the auction, Not titled, features haphazardly placed beauty and fashion products juxtaposed with her signature slabs of shimmering, layered colour. The piece is ambiguous in its portrayal of these objects; are they to be cherished as we are led to believe, or isolated and their value destabilised. Dober has worked at Arts Project since 2010, and has exhibited in group shows in Australia.
