Mark Smith has a varied practice that spans painting, ceramics, mixed media, video and soft sculpture. Primarily concerned in his sculptural work with how the physicality of body relates to human nature and the human condition, his two-dimensional works explore nature itself. Not titled depicts an Autumn scene where dappled light bleeds softly through the trees, each leaf lovingly rendered and vibrating with energy. Smith has worked at Arts Project since 2003 and has exhibited extensively in Australia. In 2014, he self-published Alive, an auto-biographical reflection of his life.
