privately acquired from the above in 2005

In 1903 Alphonse Cytère (1861-1941) set up an art studio in Rambervillers near Strasbourg, which produced ceramics often designed by prestigious artists of the Ecole de Nancy such as Bussiere, Gruber, Jeandelle, Majorelle. Rambervillers specialised in unusual and iridescent glazes on organic forms.
