In Not titled, Mohammed Al Jelali plays with text pulled from the most ordinary of places, asking the viewer to reconsider these formations as mark-making in the context of the artwork.

Mohammed is an emerging artist creating sparse and experimental works in acrylic, pencil and dry pastel. He often draws inspiration from street directories and calendars, indiscriminately scrawling coloured words, numbers and text across the page, sometimes morphing text into his symbols. Moving toward a more figurative style, Al Jelali has been exploring the painterly qualities of acrylic paints, taking inspiration from movie posters.

Al Jelali has worked at Arts Project Australia since 2019 and has participated in the annual group shows. His work is held in provate colletions.
