In Aristovoulou's The River and the Water Lillies next to the Concrete the dense, smudged workings manifest a flourish of visual energy that is both tranquil and abrupt, addressing the dichotomy between the natural and the man-made.
George Aristovoulou is an emerging artist who works with pencil, ink and gouache on paper. His style exemplifies figurative abstraction, where he carefully segments the picture plane, creating broad linear stripes that incorporate symbolic elements. The colours seamlessly blend, lending a dream-like quality to the imagery he carefully constructs.
Aristovoulou has worked at Arts Project Australia since 2011. He has exhibited in numerous national group exhibitions. His work is held in private collections throughout Australia.
