This piece exemplifies Jacob Cartelli's drawing practice, abstract birds placed neatly side by side and seemingly viewed through a distorted lens.
Jacob Cartelli is an emerging artist working in acrylic and pencil on paper and canvas. His paintings are characterised by formations of juxtaposed colour, the formal elements fusing together to form a thick, rich, saturated field in the style of gestural abstraction. By comparison, his pencil drawings are concentrated and refined, the forms often ambiguously figurative.
Cartelli has worked at Arts Project since 2015 and has exhibited in numerous group exhibitions throughout Australia. His work is held in national and international private and corporate collections.
