Museum Bird is a lovely example of Coburn's gentle application of media, the neatly composed work framing the subject against the clear blue sky.
Trudi Coburn is an emerging artist whose practise centres on using dry pastel and gouache on paper. Inspired by the likes of Matisse and Van Gough, she brings a similar thoughtfulness of composition and colour to her still life images. Like these impressionists, her work has a gentle dream-like quality: her pastel works, in particular, are distinct with their hazy strokes of opaque colour, giving viewers the impression a light veil covers the page.
Coburn has been working at Arts Project Australia since 2018 and has shown in Art Project's Annual Gala each year. Her work is held in private collections in Australia.
