In Dawes' selected work the noise and smog of a large city seems to be captured in the application of pastel as we lay witness to what appears to be a collision of vehicles on the road on the foreground.
Jamie Dawes is an emerging artist with interest in repetition and pattern. Themes in his work reflect his interests in bands from retro album covers and animal studies. He begins his artistic process by building up blocks of colour, frequently refining the work with the application of a delicate nib pen, resulting in sketchy, colourful and crowded compositions.
Dawes has worked at Arts Project Australia since 2011. His has exhibited in group exhibitions in Melbourne, and his work is held in private collections in Australia.
