Andy Williams is a playful portrait of the American singer and television host. This abstract work by Francis is charming in its composition and communication of Williams' winning smile.
A prolific painter, Patrick Francis works primarily in acrylic on paper. His paintings draw on personal experiences and encounters as well as a rich knowledge of popular culture and art history, often inspired by the work of artists such as Velazquez, Vermeer, Goya and Rubens.
Francis has worked at Arts Project Australia since 2009 and had his first solo exhibition in the Arts Project gallery in 2014. He has been included in numerous group shows and, in 2012, he was a recipient of the Art & Australia/Credit Suisse Private Banking Contemporary Art Award. His work is held in numerous private collections.
