This piece by Gibbs captures the tranquillity of the environment; the animals caught in a motionless moment against the gentle movement of the field.
Barbara Gibbs' work is characterised by subtle images with a soft, atmospheric quality.
Her delicate works on paper predominantly rendered in gouache and greylead, build up to create dreamy archetypal images depicting a variety of subjects; from birds and animals in their natural habitats to cityscapes and figures, and demonstrate an acute sensitivity in dealing with her subject matter. Her compositions are minimal and have a beautiful balance and simplicity —there is a stillness in her work that invites contemplation.
Gibbs has been a regular artist at Arts Project Australia since 2016 and has exhibited in several Annual Gala exhibitions. Her work is held in private collections throughout Australia.
