In Untitled, Matta depicts a singing trio, perhaps from the 1960's, with beehive hairdo's, dark charcoaled eyes and pale pink lips.
Sammi-Jo Matta is an emerging artist who uses a range of mediums in her work, from acrylic paints through to compressed charcoal. Often referencing advertisements, pop culture and everyday life, she approaches her practice with confident fluid lines and brilliant colours. The proportions of her figures are of interest and are elongated to fill the proportions of the page.
Matta has worked at Arts Project Australia since 2016 and has exhibited in annual group exhibitions.
