In this work by Sutherland, the brilliant red of the top layer of ink is in striking contrast to the soft teal beneath.

Lindsay Sutherland is an emerging, gestural painter working predominantly in ink, as well as pastel, mix media and paint pen. She tends to layer two or three colours per artwork, resulting in a harmonious interplay between bold gestural marks and open space that is reminiscent of Japanese brushwork.

Sutherland has worked at Arts Project Australia since 2015 and been featured in several group exhibitions. Her work is held in private collections.
