"I noticed during the outbreak of war in Afghanistan (2001), an increase in action toys which were soldiers or otherwise war-related," Bracks says. "I started to question whether or not they were appropriate toys for children and what that then does in shaping the thoughts that children have about war. Does it become a game? Do they understand the seriousness of it, or is it something that just makes people accepting of this sort of violence because they play with it from such a young age?" Priscilla Bracks, 2009
