Lot 233
LATE 17TH CENTURY
Rectangular, each with a padded top and squab cushion, raised on turned supports with conforming H-form stretchers.
54cm high, 78cm wide, 67cm deep
Estimate $1,500 - $2,000
Both stools are in good previously restored condition; several of the bun feet appear to be replacements (very well matched); there is some very slight looseness to the frames, typical of pegged joining; there are a few scattered knocks and small losses to edges and high points of the frames, including to their turned details, and other minor blemishes consistent with age and use including small unobtrusive spots of old, long dormant worm nibbling; the upholstery is relatively recent and remains in good condition generally but some tassels have been lost or damaged.
