Von Bertouch, A., Hutchings, P., Guy Boyd, Lansdowne, Melbourne, 1976, p. 64 (illus.)

This bronze relief wall sculpture was the maquette for the larger version of Aboriginal Legend of Flight which was commissioned for Melbourne's Tullamarine Airport, made in 1969 for its opening on 1 July 1970. This was Guy Boyd's first big commission.
There was much excitement in Melbourne with Tullamarine's opening and many considered the city had finally entered the international scene and the artwork, including Guy Boyd's relief sculpture, made a significant contribution to this.
