Lot 5
Reading the Paper 1986
colour woodcut, ed. 1/3
editioned, titled, signed and dated in pencil below image
48 x 50cm
Estimate $7,000 - $9,000
In the dark blue pigment and the light brown at the top, the pigment appears to have reacted leaving behind an inconsistent texture to the work not seen across the whole image. It is likely that this is a natural process from the pigment used by the artist. Light foxing on the outer edges of the sheet, not in the image. The paper displays light cockling throughout. Overall framed size is 78 x 78cm.
