A VIETNAMESE IRON-DECORATED STONEWARE JAR
LY (1009-1225) OR TRAN DYNASTY (1225-1400), CIRCA 13TH CENTURY

Of tall cylindrical form, decorated with carved lotus petals to the rim, lug handles, and incised decoration of scrolling lotus and clouds to the sides, the lotus and clouds in an off white glaze against an iron brown ground.
Height 42cm

Repaired firing crack to section of one side, wear and craquelure to the shiny glaze on shoulders, chip to inside of rim, small chips and wear throughout consistent with age and use
