A playful painting of a Mehinaku man surrounded by white space. The Mehinaku are indigenous people of Brazil who live in the Indigenous Park of the Xingu.
Paul Quick is an emerging figurative artist who works with dry pastel, acrylic, ink and paint pens, creating striking works on paper. His practice has similar qualities to neo-expressionism in the seemingly rough handling of materials resulting in expressive mark-making—with the inclusion of some erratic text—that come together to form highly gestural portraits and intriguing compositions. Quick has been an artist at Arts Project Australia since 2018 and has exhibited in Arts Project Australia's annual group exhibitions. His work is held in private collections.
