(This report has been prepared with limited access for close inspection, especially for upper parts of the mirror, and with no inspection of its back.)

The frame appears to be in largely original condition and retaining its original gilding – oil gilt with water gilt highlights (now a little dull) – but with wear to high points and various small superficial losses, scrapes, and knocks, particularly to the lower corners. There has been some repair to the carved crest. The joints around the lower corner have cracked and slightly opened, and screw holes have been drilled through the lower cross member just inside its corners. The plate, which appears to be a replacement, shows some marks to its silvering.
