A CHINESE CLOISONNE DISH
WANLI MARK (1572-1620), AND OF THE PERIOD

Of shallow form with raised cavetto and an everted horizontal rim with foliate edge, decorated to the interior with scrolling peonies in red, yellow, green and blue enamels against a turquoise ground, the rim with scrolling flowers against a red and white speckled ground, with a chased mallow flower to the interior centre in unenammeled bronze. The reverse with a six character mark for Wanli within a rectangle in red enamel against a dark green ground, surrounded by scrolling clouds.
3cm high, 20cm diameter

Sold for $24,000

Wear from use. Lost gilding. Pitting to the enamels in places. Oxidation to the exposed bronze including the cloisonnes. No visible cracks, chips or repairs to the enamelwork.
