Each carved from solid wood as a pair of male and female figures on waisted circular plinths with hands at their sides, the female figure's hands joined to the thighs. Fine old darkened patine to both.
The male figure 58cm high, 19cm wide. The female figure 61cm high, 21cm wide

The male figure with a detached and repaired left arm. The female figure with an age crack to the right inner leg and old loss to part of the left thumb. Both figures with a small amount of old insect damage, various chips, small losses and old wear.

Floy Quintos is a Manilan film director, playright and collector and curator of Filipino historical traditional arts.
Hiro Kobayashi was a ethnographic photographer well known for his expeditions to northern Luzon in the 1980s and 1990s where he documented tribal life and avidly collected important Ifugao art objects.
