"Trapeze 1963 was etched in Milan while Baldessin was attending the Brera Academy, after leaving London where he, like (Fred) Williams, had attended the Chelsea School of Art. Trapeze was Baldessin's first print to be publicly shown, in the touring exhibition 'Australian Print Survey' of 1963-64. It was the first etching seen by Tate Adams who, impressed by young Baldessin, offered him a part-time lectureship in the RMIT print department of which Adams had been appointed Head in 1960. The etching plate, inked and varnished, was later hung on the wall of the Crossley Gallery." (Robert Lindsay p. 40)
