"The abstract images represent the full- Dird in Kununjku language and the Djang site (place of power) associated with it called Dirdbim, which is located near Yikkerrakkal where the artist lives.
The moon is said to have been one of the original creator Ancestors of Kununjku clan lands. He was Bininj (human being) just like Aboriginal people today but became the moon and morning star (Gingin). He is of the sub-section Wamud.
The moon determines the timing of ceremonies, when they start and finish and on a practical level the waxing of the moon brings fish to the creeks and her light helps people to see and catch them. In the daytime the sun is too bright unless at dawn or dusk."
