Maker's mark of Thomas Whipham, London 1749, of inverted pear-shape with domed cover, artichoke finial, the swing loop handle with cane binding, chased and repoussé with flowers and rocaille, engraved with a crest and coat of arms, the stand and burner with pierced and rocaille scrolled flower swagged aprons and three scroll capped cabriole legs terminating in shell feet.

The Estate of LJJ Crofton, Canberra
These are the arms of Lambert impaling Eliot(t) for Edward Lambert (1715-1785), a merchant of St. George's, Queen's Square, Middlesex and his first wife Ann Eliot (1713-1750), daughter of John Eliot, a London merchant. They were married at St. James's Piccadilly on 26 January 1749. Their memorial can be found in the south chancel of Banstead Church as recorded in F. A. Heygate-Lambert, The Registers of Banstead in the County of Surrey, 1547-1789, London, 1896, pp. 116-117.
