Maker's mark of Thomas Tearle, London 1741, of compressed bullet outline chased and engraved around the flush hinged cover with rocaille, bearded masks and flower swags above a coat of arms, the scrolled swing handle with cane binding, the stand on three scrolled cabriole legs terminating in shell feet, with engraved inscription to underside of base 'The Gift of Row'd. Wynne of Glanravon Esq'r to his niece Mary Williams. Wife of W'm Williams of Quirt Esq'r.'
