EXCEPTIONAL DIAMOND SOLITAIRE RING
Property from a Private Sydney Collection
The pear brilliant-cut diamond weighing 6.11 carats, is claw-set between a pair of baguette diamonds, the small diamonds together weighing approximately 0.44 carats, mounted in 18ct gold, size M.
Accompanied by:
a GIA report numbered 5234066582, dated 19 September 2023, stating that the 6.11 carat diamond is natural, D colour, VVS1 clarity, laser inscribed;
a GIA diamond type classification letter dated 18 September 2023, stating that the diamond is determined to be a Type IIa diamond. Type IIa diamonds are the most chemically pure type of diamond and often have exceptional optical transparency.
NOTES
Beyond rare!
With less than 2% of the world's natural diamonds classified as Type IIa, this pure diamond is as rare as it is beautiful.
Diamonds in this group are the most chemically pure type of natural diamond and often have exceptional optical transparency.
Reminiscent of the legendary Golconda diamonds, these exceedingly rare diamonds possess a superb luminousness and an innate purity, besides indicating a superior quality,
The special whiteness about them is often described as soft, limpid, watery or pure. It is not to be confused with the colour grade or clarity - it is rather a quality in which light appears to pass through the stone as if it were totally unimpeded, which gives the stone its soft appearance.
The surface lustre appears to have a light softness, more gentle and yet luminous and striking.
Among famous gem diamonds, the 530.20 carat Cullinan I and the 105.60 carat Koh-i-noor, are examples of Type IIa
