Lot 70
Composed as a line of claw-set oval and circular-cut rubies, alternated between similarly set old-European cut diamonds, the rubies and diamonds together weighing approximately 0.78 carats and 0.39 carats respectively, mounted in 18ct gold, size O1/2, gross weight approximately 5 grams, Birmingham assay marks.
Estimate $670 - $850
In our opinion the rubies is slightly purplish red, deep saturation, with typical inclusions. Some nicks, chips, abrasions and scratches to the facets and facet junctions. The diamonds are bright and lively, probably of H-I colour and SI to pique clarity, as gauged and graded within the limitations of the cutting style and the mounting. The mounting displays scratches commensurate with age and wear. Can be polished easily.
The ring is of very good workmanship with signs of wear consistent with age and use.
Overall condition is very good, considering its period.
