Wingfield-Digby (1911-1989) became Keeper of Textiles at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.

A similar fragment can be found in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, identified as 14th c. Italian, formerly collection of Friedrich Fischbach (Accession Number 09.50.994).
