A FINE CHINESE CARVED SLENDER FLUTED QINGBAI VASE AND COVER,
POSSIBLY SOUTHERN SONG DYNASTY (1127-1279)

The ovoid body is divided into eight lobes by fine vertical ribs rising to the straight tall octagonal neck. Each lobe is finely carved with leaves and lotus pedals. The high shoulder is applied with four loop handles and the vase is covered overall with a transparent pale blue-tinged glaze. The cover is similarly glazed and of conforming section.

Compare to a qingbai vase and cover with very similar shape but without carved decoration, see Christie's New York, 23/9/2022, lot 947.
