A RARE JAPANESE SATSUMA EWER
Early 19th century, bottle shaped, the handle and spout in the form of a coiled dragon, the body decorated with reserves of stylised flowers and mon.
Height 27cm

Estimate $1,500 - $1,800

Sold for $1,300

In good condition with no visible signs of repair, surface dirt, dust and staining to neck of dragon consistent with age.

An almost identical ewer is in the collection of Cornell University, (George and Mary Rockwell Fund) and is dated 1819.
