A FINE CHINESE YELLOW-ENAMELLED BOWL, WANLI SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1573-1619)
The bowl is thinly potted with rounded sides rising to a slightly flared rim, supported on a short foot, enamelled inside and out with a rich yellow enamel of deep egg-yolk tone. The base is covered with a clear glaze.

A Wanli yellow-enamelled bowl of similar size is in the Percival David Collection, now on loan to the British Museum (accession number: PDF. 543), illustrated in the R. Scott, Illustrated Catalogue of Ming and Qing Monochrome Wares in the Percival David Foundation of Chinese Art, London, 1989, no. 543, pp.18-19; another three similar bowls sold at the auctions, one was sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 29/5/2019, lot 3153; the other one sold at the same house on 30/5/2005, lot 1461; the third one was sold at Sotheby's Hong Kong, 9/4/2024, lot 156.

Sue Hewitt的非凡職業生涯始於20世紀60年代中期。她於1965年至1967年間擔任巴布亞新幾內亞行政長官夫人的私人助理,此後被任命為總督凱西勳爵(Lord Casey)夫人梅·凱西(Maie Casey)的私人助理,任職時間為1967年至1969年。

The Estate of Sue Hewitt (1941-2024).
Sue Hewitt's remarkable career began in the mid-1960s, where she served as Personal Assistant to the wife of the Administrator of Papua New Guinea from 1965 to 1967, a role that led to her appointment as Personal Assistant to Maie Casey, wife of the Governor-General, Lord Casey, from 1967 to 1969.

In 1969, Sue joined Christie's, as the Sydney Office Manager for its newly established Australian branch. Her career with Christie's spanned nearly two decades, during which she achieved numerous milestones, including becoming the first woman auctioneer for Christie's worldwide in 1976. She subsequently held leadership roles such as Managing Director, Deputy Chairman, and Non-Executive Director.

After leaving Christie's, she took on several Commonwealth appointments, including membership in the National Cultural Heritage Committee. She also established herself as a respected art consultant and valuer, working with public galleries, private clients, and corporate entities right up to her death in February 2024.
