The Collection of Marisa Borghese, Sydney
Accompanied by a letter in Italian translating to:
This drawing, in the state in which it finds itself today (1960) was acquired by my father, for our home at Via Benedetto Varchi in Florence, in 1910 at Bologna from the antique dealers Astorri and Nicoli on Via Ugo Bassi.
It was paid, together with other two drawings of semi-dressed ladies , 50 lire of the time.
In 1920 the collector Charles Loesar, friend of my father, presented him to Dr.Ross (attached is his visiting card)
who acquired for the Boston Museum the two figures of women for 1000 dollars. Father did not want however to part with the "Two Heads of Angels".
The set of drawings, according to the antiquarians, came from the home of Count Zorzi in Bologna.
