Lot 28
A man leading a horse
Oil on plywood panel
Signed and dated centre left: L-C / 42 / 43
32 x 22.5cm
Estimate $30,000 - $50,000
Inspection under natural and UV light indicates the work is in very good condition with no damage or later painting apparent.
There are a few very slight, short, and unobtrusive shrinkage cracks scattered across the work evidently caused by shrinking in the veneer of the plywood panel (as visible in the catalogue photos, most apparent in the area painted white at the upper right corner).
The work is housed in gilt and black-painted cassetta frame that is probably around twenty years old and generally remains in good condition excepting a small hole and associated repainting in the plate at top centre.
The opinions expressed in the condition reports are a guide only and should not be treated as a statement of fact. Prospective buyers are encouraged to seek further information or request additional images during our pre-sale period where Leonard Joel staff are available for advice. Please note condition reports can be amended during the pre-sale period, so we strongly suggest any interested bidders check the published condition report available on the website before the auction commences. Leonard Joel makes no guarantee of the originality of mechanical or applied components. Absence of reference to such modifications does not imply that a lot is free from modifications.
