Lot 198

A LARGE FARMHOUSE-STYLE OAK DINING TABLE
Robert Brown, Melbourne, 2011, made bespoke for the vendor

In provincial George III style, the rectangular top with cleated ends above a plain frieze with a very deeply extending drawer at each end (and one loose flatware divider for use in either of these), raised on tapering square supports, with a pair of removable conforming extension leaves fitting to the ends
76cm high, 340cm long (470cm with extension leaves fitted), 110cm wide

Estimate $2,400 - $3,000

Sold for $18,000

Very well presented throughout, showing little if any appreciable wear (excluding the light distressing applied in the making of the table to simulate natural patina of age and use). The extension leaves are a little darker in tone than the main part of the top. One of the drawers is rather stiff in running.
