Lot 174
1820s
The apparently original plate within a reeded and ebonised slip and torus frame moulded with imbricated laurel leaves and berries with a bunch of berries upper centre
83cm diameter, 8.5cm deep
Estimate $700 - $1,000
The main leaf and berry decoration is generally in very good condition. A very few berries are lacking and a few others have knocks and scrapes to their surfaces.
There a few shrinkage cracks to the frame, including to the ebonised slip; these are most pronounced to the outer sides of the frame.
The plate appears to be original. Its silvering is degraded almost completely across the plate, leaving it clouded grey and spotted.
