Lot 100

Kikukawa EIZAN (1787–1867)
A woman holding a mirror to her face
Colour woodblock print
35.5 x 22.5cm (sheet)

Estimate $300 - $500

Sold for $400

The sheet is perhaps a little discoloured; it shows handling wear around it edges including minor soft creases, and some scattered tiny faint yellow-brown spots, mostly towards the edges.

The sheet has evidently previously been tipped to a support, leaving spots of glue residue to the corners of the verso (not showing recto) and there is one small skinned spot to the verso (also not apparent recto). The sheet is fixed to its present mount (unframed) with two small paper hinges to the reverse of its upper edge.
