Samuel Jones, Bath, second half 18th century
The eight-day double fusee movement with verge escapement and pull repeat striking on a bell, the silvered Roman and Arabic numeral dial beneath a strike / silent dial within engraved spandrels in a bell-top glazed case of typical architectural design with glazed doors front and back, brass grilles to the spandrels of the front and to the sides, and with a brass swing handle to the top, the brass backplate engraved with a decorative design of flowers in an urn in a garden
52cm high (with handle raised), 28.5cm wide, 19cm deep

The case:
The bell top and handle reattached from the top of the case- will need to be re-adhered
Glass inset to back door appears to be replaced
Small cracks, scratches and losses visible to case in places, most notably the plinth base
Cloth backing the grilles has been replaced
Breaks and repairs to the wood surrounding the dial (to the sides of the arch)
Separation to the back right hand seam visible
The movement:
All original, complete, working but not recently serviced or timed, striking hour on bell
Not door keys or winders present
