Lot 394

Alexander COLQUHOUN (1862–1941)
A bridge across river flats
Oil on plywood panel
Signed lower left: A. Colquhoun
24.5 x 38.5cm

Estimate $1,000 - $1,500

Sold for $1,500

Generally in good condition. There are various original inclusions caught in the paint (brush hairs and specks of other foreign material) and rising slightly proud of the paint surface; a couple of these are rubbed (the most obvious appearing as a whitish spot towards the lower left, as visible in the catalogue photos). Various small holes across the lower edge of the panel (apparently a scrap piece of plywood) appear to be original to the panel. There are various superficial marks to the surface and general surface dirt (also as visible in the catalogue photos).

The frame (by Thallon, as stamped) is in good condition consistent with age, albeit with some accumulated surface dirt.
