A VERY FINE CHINESE POLYCHROME CINNABAR LACQUER "PEONY" BOX AND COVER, MING DYNASTY (1368 - 1644)
The box is deeply and finely carved through the cinnabar, green and brown layers. It's with an old Japanese wood box.

A similar cinnabar lacquer box and cover with "orchid" design, see Christie's Hong Kong, 1 June 2011, lot 3835.
