Lot 135

Structurally sound and for most part in very good condition.

The uppermost part of the carved crest is virtually detached, with breaks through the three points at which it is connected to the rest of the crest below (presently held in place only with a nail at the central connecting point). Of the two circular finials toward the ends of the toprail, that on the right has lost to the point to its top. On the upper surface of the toprail on its right side is a diagonal fracture in the veneer caused by some movement in the moulding below.

The leather to the (drop-in) seat is heavily worn and cracked throughout and split around some edges.

One of the forefeet, there are losses to two of its foliate points. All four feet originally had casters concealed within their undersides. Only one of these remains in place (leaving the chair presently standing unevenly), another is detached but present, while two are lacking altogether.

Occasional other very slight losses to carved points.
