A SET OF FOUR FINE CHINESE GILT FILIGREE ORNAMENTS, POSSIBLY TANG DYNASTY (690 - 705)
Each shield-form bronze plaque is set behind openwork gold foil decorated in relief with fine lines and granulation, depicting four mythical beasts—a pair of phoenix, a dragon, a rhinoceros, and a tiger—within a linear border. The edges of the gold foil are pinked and folded back, and the bronze surfaces display malachite encrustations. It's with a Japanese wood box and two fitted perspex stands.
Two ornaments employing similar decorative techniques, both formerly in the collection of J. J. Lally & Co., New York, and dated to the Eastern Jin dynasty, one were sold at Bonhams New York, 23 March 2026, lot 72, and the other one were sold at the same house, 20 March 2023, lot 36.

各件作盾形銅胎，上覆鏤空金箔，採纍絲及炸珠工藝，細線浮雕飾四種瑞獸——鳳鳥一對、龍、犀牛及虎——周以線性邊框。金箔邊緣作鋸齒狀並向後折，銅胎表面可見孔雀石鏽蝕。附日本木盒及兩個壓克力座。
兩件採相近裝飾工藝之例，曾為紐約 J. J. Lally & Co. 舊藏，並斷代為東晉，其中一件售於紐約邦瀚斯，2026年3月23日，拍品72；另一件售於同場，2023年3月20日，拍品36。
