A GANDHARAN STUCCO STANDING FIGURE OF BUDDHA, 3TH/4TH CENTURY
The sculpture is finely modelled, depicting a standing figure grasping the hem of his robe (sanghati) with his right hand while arranging the drapery with his left. The face is characterised by a bow-shaped mouth, prominent aquiline nose, and deeply set, heavy-lidded eyes, framed by elongated earlobes. The hair is rendered in dense curls rising over the usnisa.
