This and the following four lots have been consigned from an Australian branch of the Morton family, descended from Lt-General Boyce William Dunlop Morton (1830–1919), to whom these lots have passed.
Thomas Morton (1764-1838) was a successful English playwright whose thirty-years career through the late Georgian period produced many popular works including the best-known Speed the Plough.
