See the introductory note to lot 179.

Colonel William Heppell Morton (1788–1829), the only child of Thomas Morton's first marriage, was a British military engineer in the Royal Bengal Engineers. With his wife Juliana, whom he married in 1811, he was the father of Juliana Morton, later Hervey (for whom see the following lot).

Edward Morton (1806–after 1860), one of the children of Thomas Morton's second marriage and thus half-brother and brother-in-law to William and Juliana Morton, was an artist and print-maker best known for his portraits, mostly of theatrical figures.
