A SMALL CHINESE HUANGHUALI STOOL, 17TH CENTURY
During the Ming dynasty, small and low chairs were likely very common in households. However, it is rare to find extant example made from huanghuali wood. An identical example of a huanghuali fangdeng can be found in the collection of Wang Shixiang, illustrated in Wang Shixiang, Ming shi jia ju zhen shang, Hong Kong, 1985, p.59, pl. 10.
