Estimate $4,000 - $6,000
Generally well presented consistent with age and use (and later modification described below), with typical superficial scratches and other marks, most pronounced to the top of the lower part to which there are also areas of wear to the polish. There is a veneer repair to the upper right corner of the left-hand glazed door; a small veneer loss at the base of the right side of the upper part; and two more pronounced (and recent) circular knocks (each about 6mm across) to the top moulding on the left side of the lower part. On the right side of the lower part, there are faults to the forward part of the of the fine moulding the defines the lower edge of the frieze – a small loss, a replacement section, and misalignment of parts of the moulding.
The interior of the upper part has been reconfigured (probably in the late twentieth century) to divide the interior into two bays with an added central partition. This partition and boards added to the interior faces of the sides, all in a mahogany reasonably well matching the colour of the carcase, are cut with trenches to accommodate removable shelves. Top lighting has also been added, accommodated within a box fitted to the soffit.
Two keys are present for the door locks.
